Balancing the Nine to Five and your Side Hustle
Balancing a full-time job and a side business can be tough. Realistically, you’re looking at the 24 hours a day to manage your time between the two.
I’m not going to deny it, though, but I slack when it comes to scheduling posts for myself. It can be very exhausting, especially when you don’t have enough help. That’s the struggle for me.
Sometimes I just want to say, “The hell with it”. Sorry for my french. But is very true, Yikes!
Schedule your Time.
I think this is the most important one because it will the determine the level of productivity you have.
There are days where I go to work from 9-5. Once I get out I spend maybe 1 hour with my partner and then I have to hurry and go back to work on my business, cook, and clean up for the next day. Pretty hectic. I couldn’t even imagine having kids. I couldn’t handle it.
I get lucky when my partner comes home and decides to cook for us so I get some time to work on my business. He’ll clean the house and makes sure that it looks tidy. I mean he really is awesome. Right?
I honestly devote 1-hour sorting and scheduling posts for my social media. Then I go and schedule another hour for interaction and engagement. The more you time yourself the better and easier it will be.
Learn how to say No to Fun for a While.
This one I literally had to say bye, bye. I could no longer go out to bars, nightclubs, and friends house. My plate was so full I had to push them away. I literally would just sit home and work all day during the weekends. Actually, between (1-11pm) Yeah, that’s pretty crazy.
Moving to another state was the best thing that could happen for me because the people I used to hang out with, always wanted to go somewhere and I felt bad for saying no to them. Now, I don’t even have to worry about it because they don’t live close to me.
Sometimes you just have to surround yourself with believers and achievers so that you can accomplish more and get closer to checking off your goals off of your board. That’s me actually.
Using the money I made from the 9-5 to increase my skills.
This was crucial for my business because my ability to perform better determines my income. A few things I learned, were:
Becoming a blogger.
Virtual Assistant.
Social Media Manager.
Using Convertkit.
And one of my favorites, Using Canva.
Becoming a Business Coach.
I’m also on the lookout to hiring a team of virtual assistants to assist me with more tasks. But this will be done in the near future. Another great advantage is growing my Facebook group and Email List.
Last, Building Genuine Relationship.
The best thing you can do to your side hustle is creating genuine relationships with other business owners. There are so many connections out there. I’ve made some really awesome friends. The beauty of this is the fact that they can share your content with their friends and so on.
Sometimes you’ll feel like you’d had enough and you want to quit but honestly, if it wasn’t for the ladies who are constantly supporting me, I don’t know where I’d be.
So there you have it.
Working the 9-5 can be stressful while you’re building your business. Hang in there and hustle hard because you never know how close you’ll be from making that moolah!
